THE CARDINAL
BURIED IN THE HEART OF A DYING STAR.

The Cardinal is a large crater on the edge of Belize. It's defined by its large, protruding mountain rage that spans nearly the entire outer ring of the crater from the initial comet impact. This mountain range spans into the sea, and tapers off into a singular, narrow entrance past the reef. The largest mountains tower on the west side of the crater, while the middlemost mountains are dormant volcanos.Along the west edge, the largest mountains span into the forest and create a rocky environment that is nearly impossible for normal cats to venture across. These dense mountains are home to tunnels and caverns in which cats and various animals seek refuge inside. The environment is harsh outside of these caves. The foliage and flora struggle to thrive among the rocks.Along the east edge, the mountains give way into the water, creating a rock barrier between the gulf and the yawning ocean. This gulf is home to a bustling, diverse expanse of fauna and flora. Within it, many tidepools and reefs thrive hidden away from the powerful waves beyond the rock wall.Within the south corner of the crater, dense rainforest covers a majority of the area. The mountains here do not span into the forest, creating a very large area of flora that is undisturbed by rocks, unlike the west. The ground is covered in flowers, shrubs, and other greenery. Despite the welcoming scenery and soft, mossy ground, the forest floor is home to many dangerous animals. This is why the cats within the south tend to stick to the trees. There's sand pathways created hundreds years prior, a trail system created by the very first Tonguekeepers, that border each territory, and all lead into the northern territory. In the north, there's an environment that may have once been rainforest, but has since been utterly destroyed by lava spill. Most of the area is covered in volcanic rock, and is hardly covered by any trees. Shrubs, bushes, rocky outcrops, and dense grass and undergrowth call the north its home, unable to recoup entirely from the destruction of the eruption. In the centre of the north, a large statue containing the corpses of the original four leaders lie.

Now that you've explored the world, where will you begin, young Archer?

RELIGION & TRADITIONS
THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A PLACE FOR YOU IN THE SKY.
After Celeste had laid her life down to create the Paradise of Lightning, and the Tigers had ascended to Celestial-hood, the Arrows began to follow a strict religion and traditions surrounding this event.

PARADISE OF LIGHTNING
THE HEAVENS.
The Paradise of Lightning, also known as Celeste's Garden, or simply as the Celeste, is the realm of afterlife. Created when Celeste laid down in the sky, and died to give the Tigers a peaceful place to rest, its now home to every deceased soul in the crater. The three Celestial Leaders protect this realm with their lives. This realm is home to the deceased cats of the Arrows, to the deceased wildlife of the crater, and to the dead coral destroyed by twolegs. Upon death, any cat living in the Arrows is gently delivered to the Paradise of Lightning by their Celestial Leader. These deceased souls are free of pain, strife, and worry, and can rest for the rest of their afterlife in this realm. It is truly a paradise. It is a large, extremely bright realm where the ground is made of starlight. The trees, rocks, water, all parts of nature, fade into existence from the star-floor, becoming more opaque the higher it is from the ground. The biome is similar to the crater itself, covered in lush flora that is bursting with life and colour, as if touched by the sun itself. Despite this, the sky is always dark and crackling with lightning, and the environment seems to glow a soft aura to keep it lit as if the sun were shining. In the centre of the Paradise, there is a large stone building that is reminiscent of ancient twoleg ruins where the three Celestial Leaders rest. They each have their own perch to rest upon, and use this area as a council place when comes time to communicate with the living, or with one another. There are large towering mountains that seem to parallel the Cardinal's own mountain system. It even ends and opens up into the water, which is crystal clear and shimmering, with no visible seafloor. If you look out upon the horizon, the water seems to cut off, and create a waterfall into the void below, as if the environment is flat and suspended in space.
THE SOLFATARA
THE UNDERWORLD.
The Solfatara, or The Underworld, is the mirroring realm that exists beneath the Paradise of Lightning. Legends tell that if you swim beyond the mountains of the Celeste, and follow the water off the edge and downwards, you will wind up in the destructive, chaotic land of the Serpent. This realm is where destructive and evil cats and spirits are sent to atone for their sins and acts they committed when they were alive. All cats are guided to the Celeste by default by their Celestial Leader, where they will be taken to a council and their fate determined by all three leaders. If they are deemed dangerous and unfit to rest forever, they are forced to walk into the deep waters, and over the edge into the Solfatara. This realm is a mirrored version of the Crater, however no good resides here. Unlike the bustling, lively environment that thrives in the crater, and the bright skies of the Paradise, the Solfatara is a desolate wasteland, wracked by hurricanes and burnt away by volcanoes that erupt constantly. The sky is murky, dark, and shrouded in thick smoke and ashes that fall like rain. From what can be seen, the sun is permanently eclipsed by the moon. The ocean is drained, left empty, supposedly by an endlessly receding tide. Unlike the Paradise, the entire world is extremely physical, and is charred and burnt. The trees are bare, the grass is dead and wilted, and the ground is cracked, as if a drought has run its course on the environment. The deeper you go into the Solfatara, the hotter it gets, and the more lava pools begin to appear. The land is windswept, as if destroyed by hurricanes, yet no water is present. In this mirrored version of the world, the Northern Arrow still exists. It's covered in dead plant matter, lava pits, and obsidian. Where the statue of the Leaders would be, there's only the Serpent, casted in volcanic ash and stone, and unable to escape.Eerily enough, surrounding the statue of the Serpent, solidified and petrified bodies of cats attempting to run either towards or away from the serpent litter the ground. Legends say that these petrified bodies are the permanent graves of evil and destructive cats sent to atone in the Solfatara, who got too close to the volcanoes, and became encased in stone just like the Serpent.

RITUALS, PRACTICES & TRADITIONS
LEADERSHIP RITUAL
When Overseers either pass or retire, their Nock is the first in line for leadership. However, being a Nock doesn't secure leadership at all. Celeste decides who will become Overseer, and sometimes, it is an entirely different cat. After the Overseer has passed or stepped down, Nocks are assisted to the Jadestone by their Nurses the following night. As the Nock settles down in front of the Jadestone, they must wait until the light of the moon hits it, and sends a scattering of light back into the night sky, awaking Celeste for a brief moment in time. If she approves of the to-be Overseer, she sends a shooting star through the clear sky, a signal of acceptance. The Nock can now place their nose against the Jadestone, and enter the Paradise of Lightning to recieve 8 more lives - one from their Celestial Leader, and 7 from deceased cats close to them or the Arrow. If there is no shooting star in the sky, and the sun rises before a star can fly past, Celeste has rejected this Nock their leadership. This means that the Arrow has to proceed with a secondary ritual. The Arrow will cycle through their most capable Archers to send to the Jadestone until Celeste picks one that she approves of. This ritual can take days, or weeks, and leaves the Arrow vulnerable. Until a new Overseer is chosen, the Celestial Leader comes down from the Paradise of Lightning, and leads the clan themselves.
HALF-MOON MEETINGS
Every two weeks, or every half-moon, all Nurses from each Arrow will travel to the Jadestone and meet with one another. Here, waiting for the moon to rise, they will exchange stories, knowledge, worries, and anything else they wish to share. Here, Nurses can request permission to enter other territories in the search of herbs, and can inform other Nurses of any outbreaks of disease or anything that is cause for concern. After exchanging with one another, each Nurse places a nose to the Jadestone, and spends the night in the Paradise of Lightning to communicate with deceased Nurses and with their Celestial Leaders. Often, they're given guidance on how to better help their Arrow and Overseers, and are given omens and prophecies. This is a time of total peace for the Nurses.
FULL MOON GATHERINGS
Every full moon, each Arrow gathers part of their Arrow's population to go to a gathering in the North. This gathering is held at the Celeste Stela, the grave of the Celestial Leaders and the Serpent. Each Overseer sits in front of the stela, and announces changes in their Arrows, such as new kits, Tyros, Archers, Nurses, Nocks, and other rank graduates. They also can optionally speak on tense Arrow issues, any problems within their Arrows, and anything else they deem worthy of speaking on.In the crowd, the Arrows are allowed to mingle and meet other cats. Often, this results in a lot of rumours and gossip flying between Tyros and messy Archers, but it also allows cats to learn more about the world around them, and about other Arrows, chances they otherwise wouldn't get. These gatherings are a time of truce. If this truce is broken, and the code is bent or broken in any way possible during this, Celeste will strike the ground with lightning, or cover the sky with clouds. If she particularly approves of a specific gathering or topic, you will see a rain of stars across the sky.
TONGUEKEEPER RITUALS
Every morning, all Tonguekeepers from each Arrow will rise before their Arrowmates, and take to the North. They follow a specific set of sand paths called the Firetrails that lead them to the safest zones within the North to collect Serpent's Tongue. They bring this back to light their camp torches, cook their food, warm their dens, and for Undertakers, spread the dead's ashes. This practice is vital for all Arrow survival, as the night can grow deadly without the warmth and light needed. However, this doesn't mean that Arrows approve of these practices. They're often associated with the evil of the Serpent, and are claimed to be an act of blasphemy, and that the scent of smoke tempts the Serpent to wake once more. Most Arrows never approve of these practices due to the importance of the Celeste, and carry extreme superstitions about the role. This causes most Tonguekeepers to be outcasts, regarded as the cats closest to temptation and sin.As a result of this speculation, there came a time where the Celestial Leaders decided they must have input in who becomes a Tonguekeeper, and whether or not they are to be trusted with something so close to the Serpent. When Nurses visit the Jadestone and bring news of a cat wanting to become a Tonguekeeper, the Celestial Leaders will send them back with approval, or decline the cat.
Conciliator RITUALS
If there is any sort of conflict, disagreement, problem, or fight between Arrowmates, or even Arrows, a Conciliator's job is to keep the peace between all cats. Instead of immediately jumping to battle, these Conciliators will meet up with the cats involved in said conflict, and relieve it with problem-solving and advice. As a result, Conciliators are usually of non-Arrow descent to ensure no bias is taken.Upon a fight breaking out, Conciliators will simply gather the cats they need, and find a place either in camp to resolve this issue, or take the cats across the border to meet with the other Conciliator and other affected cats.Of course, this doesn't always resolve issues. No matter how much a Conciliator attempts to relieve a fight between Arrows or Arrowmates, the Overseer may be prone to taking further action anyway.
HISTORY
star-borne with a SUN-STARVED SERPENT.
Millions of years ago, a comet struck the earth. The Celeste had decided, it wanted to leave it's mark on the world. In its wake, it left a crater on the edge of Belize. This crater began to thrive, and became home to an encircled environment that would soon nurture the rise of four groups of wild cats. Summoned and picked by the Celeste through comets flying across the sky, The Arrows came to be by four leaders. The Jaguar of the East Waves; The Red Tiger of the West Peaks; The Ocelot of the South Rains;and the Serpent of the North. These Arrows, co-existing, created the Cardinal, a group of four points that created a much bigger picture. They raised their Arrows in peace with one another, until the Serpent of the North grew uneasy. It ate its Arrow, first the largest cats, then the smallest, yet it was not enough. The larger the Serpent grew, the hungrier it got for power, greed eating at it's humanity until it was lost and replaced with the need for the sun itself. The Serpent attempted to take over the West Peaks to use the mountains to climb to the sky, and take off with its feathered ruff. This caused a war between the two Arrows, and disrupted the truce between all four. The three other leaders of the Arrows decided the Serpent must be dealt with, and forged a plan to thwart it in its own home.

They stormed the North, and attacked the Serpent before it could think of trying to impeach the West again. Despite them having the upper hand with their surprise, the Serpent was too large to defeat. It coiled around the Jaguar, jaws parted, prepared to feast again, when the Celeste came down from the sky and shook the earth once more. The tremors caused the volcano in the West Peaks to erupt, encasing the four leaders in volcanic stone, and ending the fight right then and there. The four leaders were forever immortalized, trapped in their final battle as a statue within the North. The Celeste, saddened by their sacrifice, offered up her body as a home for the three leaders. She closed her eyes, and fell into an endless slumber, allowing the sky to be a safe haven for the three leaders to live on amongst the stars and comets. However, Celeste's own offering had been in vain. The three leaders were perpetually caught in their states from the ancient fight, infected by the Serpent's venom, and were slowly beginning to show the impact the Serpent left on them. Likewise, the Serpent was forever immortalized in its final moments, suffering in a parallel universe where the volcano never stops erupting. The leaders went on to found a peaceful plane of afterlife in the Celeste's place in the sky, called the Paradise of Lightning, where their subjects could pass onto and rest, and where they could continue to overlook their crater from above. Present day, these leaders assist you in several various ways. This story may be told in different ways between the cultures within the crater. The Paradise of Lightning is also referred to as Celeste's Garden, or simply as the Celeste - not to be confused with the religious entity and God, Celeste.
ROLES
General Roles
East Waves
South Rains
West Peaks

OVERSEER
Overseers, more casually referred to as Leaders, are cats that take upon the responsibility of leading an Arrow. These cats do everything, from assigning various patrols, to dying for their cats in battle. The responsibilities of an Overseer are not taken lightly. This position is not chosen by them, but by the Celeste. To be assigned Overseer, they must venture to the Jadestone, and await the Celeste's decision - a star shooting across the sky. To ensure a strong bond between an Overseer and their respective Nock, these two cats occupy the Overseer's den together.

NOCK
Nocks, otherwise referred to as deputies, second-in-commands, or shadows, are cats who are appointed by their Overseers to take on a deputy like role. They aid their Overseer in decisions, take over tasks that their Overseer passes onto them, and takes care of the Arrow where the Overseer might not. While being a Nock is comparable to being the Overseer, their control does not span as far, nor does the position guarantee leadership after the Overseer dies or retires. They must be accepted by the stars in the sky.

NURSE
Nurses, otherwise known as doctors or sawbones, are cats who specialize in medicine and heal the cats of their Arrows. They are responsible for gathering herbs and using them on cats, for receiving and perceiving omens and signs sent by the Celeste, and assisting their Overseers and Nocks in making decisions. Their connection to the Celeste is strengthened, as every halfmoon they visit the Jadestone to meet with other Nurses, and speak with the dead.

conciliator
Conciliators, otherwise known as mediators, are cats specifically promoted to create peace between Arrows. These cats are commonly not of Arrow-descent to ensure there is no pre-existing biases towards their respective homes. Conciliators ensure that fights and disagreements can be solved through communication instead of fighting, and solve problems both between Arrows, and within them.

Tonguekeeper
Also known as Fire Tenders, this role is undertaken by cats who dedicate their entire lives to tending the Serpent's Tongue; fire. Chosen carefully by their Overseers and Celestial Leaders for the job, they forfeit the rest of their waking days to collecting fire from the North, and bringing it back to their Arrows. These cats must retain a strong self of strength and identity, as the Serpent's Tongue is seen as a very dangerous force that could reawaken the Serpent if tampered with incorrectly. Some cats shun such selfish decisions, while others think the dedication to the Celeste and the world is admirable.

Archer
Archer is the main role a cat can graduate into after training for six moons. These cats take care of the Arrow by hunting, patrolling the territory, marking the borders, fighting battles, and otherwise assisting around the camp. They can be recruited to go foraging for herbs, to aid cats on journeys when they need protection, or with something as simple as helping elder cats clean their bedding. These cats also carry the responsibility of training Tyros.

TYRO
Tyros, often referred to as little paws, or Greenies (negatively), are cats training to graduate to another rank. Tyros can be assigned to Archers, Nurses, Conciliators, or any other role that requires extensive training. Tyros are unable to train as Tonguekeepers until they've graduated as Archers, however. These cats spend moon six through twelve training under their Archer mentors, and undergo a series of final tests near the end of their training. If they fail these tests, they must continue as a Tyro until they're capable of graduating.

GUARDIANS & KITS
Guardians are a set group of Archers who dedicate their time to taking care of, raising, and watching over the young of the Arrow. Any cat under the age of six moons is called a kit, and these kits must stay within the nursery under the watchful eyes of their Guardians. These Guardians may or may not be parents to the kits they watch, as blood relation never matters much and hardly ever impacts the amount of care Guardians put towards them. Pregnant Archers temporarily often become Guardians until their kits become Tyros, and then they return to their usual duties, but some cats stay permanent Guardians.

FISHERMAN | ARCHER SUB-RANK
All Archers have base knowledge of how to catch fish, but expertly trained Senior Archers can become full-blown Fishermen. Archers who dedicate all of their time to perfecting the art of catching fish and other edible sea-life. These Archers go through specific training to learn how to swim underwater, catch things underwater, and explore the ocean in a way other Archers may never try in their life. They run the risk of being attacked by other sea-life because of this, but learn how to fight with them, as well. They also learn the best methods of cracking open crabs, urchins, coconuts, and other dense foodstuffs.

SEARCHER | ARCHER SUB-RANK
These Senior Archers are very closely taught the art of navigating the rocky, slick outcrop on the border of the Cardinal, and learn the ability of braving the wild waves of the great sea. Many Searchers lose their lives to their jobs, but dedicate anyway. It's viewed as a very noble and brave job to take, and only the best Archers are chosen to be trained for this. Searchers will locate lost cats that have strayed too far away from camp, or have been swept out into the water, or otherwise. They get to collect Twoleg objects and keep them as rewards, and may often find boats to hop up on as they pass by.

UNDERTAKER | ARCHER SUB-RANK
Undertakers are Archers who decide to dedicate their lives for preparing for the end of others. Commonly, there will only be one Undertaker at a time, or two Undertakers - one of which is their Tyro, or graduated Tyro. Undertakers arrange death vigils for cats, adorn their bodies in flowers, and carry the body from place to place. After this, they cremate the cats bodies and bring their ashes out along the edge of the crater to spread these ashes in the Ashwind Place. As a result, Undertakers are usually Searchers prior.

ARCHITECT | ARCHER SUB-RANK
These Senior Archers dedicate their lives to building the Tree that the South Rains lives inside. Instead of battling, hunting, or focusing on kitting, these architects are well versed in weaving and building. They create the bridges, the floor of the canopy, the decorations, everything inside of the camp. It's no easy task, and they spend 12 moons teaching their Tyros how to do this as opposed to 6.

ORCHARDIST | ARCHER SUB-RANK
These Archers, as opposed to hunting, take care of the orchards in the South Rains. Along with their Archer duties, they pick ripe fruit and return it to the camp. They also plant seeds, water these plants, use honey to trap invasive insects or birds, and trim rotting plants and fruit. This ensures a secondary source of food for the Rains, since the forest floor can be unpredictable and dangerous.

RAPTOR GUARDS | ARCHER SUB-RANK
While all Archers of the West Peaks must be prepared to weather the hostile environment of the mountains, there are some that have been selected to specifically guard the territory, the camp, and patrols. These Archers are large, broad-shouldered and battle scarred. They sit guard outside of the camp at night, and are the first to catch wind of any danger. They're capable of bringing down Harpy Eagles, and fight off anything bigger than the cats of the West Peaks, ready to give their lives to defend their Arrowmates. These cats often retire early as a result of their injuries.

SPRAWLERS | ARCHER SUB-RANK
These small, clever, level-headed cats are tasked with one of the most dangerous roles of all - map out the Serpent's Belly, explore, search. They are the only Archers allowed to go in the caverns beneath the mountains, knowing their way around and searching for any lost Tyro or Kit who may have went in an attempt to explore or seem cool. These cats don't often go, but can also be sent on explorations to find precious stones, herbs, and other resources, as well as use the tunnels as a way to get around swiftly to deliver messages.
ARROWS
Let The Celeste guide you.
EAST WAVES

Cats of the East Waves are regal, laidback cats who pride themselves heavily in their abilities. They carry themselves with confidence, and a certain amount of lax, that the other Arrows lack. Seen as elegant and humble, these cats live up to their reputation easily. This Arrow is least likely to get into scuffles with other cats due to their calm demeanors, and if they do, they usually end up winning.Certain in their honed abilities such as lightning fast reflexes, toned swimmer's bodies, and the ability to not only swim, but swim underwater and hold their breath for longer than the other cats, they can often prove themselves whenever another cat may mistake their relaxed nature for laziness. They do best when working with one another, and are a fierce opponent in battle because of this, overcoming their enemies with teamwork effortlessly.Their coats shine and gleam under the sunlight from their mostly seafood diet, and they all possess a certain amount of muscle that allows them to glide through water effortlessly, even through the angriest of waves. They have webbing between their paws to help with swimming and paddling, and possess a larger lung capacity that allows them to stay underwater for much longer.

THE TERRITORY
Sheltered by the tail-ends of the mountains surrounding the Cardinal, the East Waves have created their camp on the coast of the miniature gulf. Closer to the centre of the gulf, inwards on the coast, the Arrow has created a camp within the tree line. The camp is a large, open clearing, lined by tall palm trees and large seagrape trees, and covered in lush grass. The entire camp is also lined by a hundred conch shells to avoid high tide destroying the land. The dens, created by weaving palm leaves, sea grass, and other plants together, are built on top of bent over seagrape trees. This way, if the tide crawls too high up and into the camp, their dens will not be lost to sea. These dens are designed to be light, and will float on top of water. Shells, woven nests, and other decorations hang from the branches of the trees around them.In the back of the clearing, the Overseer's den is the only den on the ground, where the Overseer and Nock sleep together. It is the most vulnerable place within the camp. It's at the base of a short palm tree, using the toppled palms as walls and a roof. Next to it, there's a large palm tree that is used as the Palm Throne. The Overseers give announcements on top of this trunk to their Arrow.
Around the edge of the camp, the remaining dens are scattered. The second lowest den is the first Infirmary. Nestled inside of various stones atop one another, with stone steps leading up to it. This was built by early Archers who wanted their sick and elderly to have an easier time accessing the Nurse. Next to it, a palm tree rises higher, and there is another den built onto it where sick cats can evacuate to escape the tide. The most sheltered den is the Nursery. Nestled comfortably between two conjoined trees, with a raised entrance that tiny kits cannot jump over, it is also covered nearly entirely by palm leaves. This assures that nothing can get in, or can get out, in the event of emergency or attack. Shells dangle from the ceiling of the den.The other dens are scattered among the trees, and often get moved around depending on how many cats reside in them. Each den is decorated with things brought back by the Arrow members. Most are decorated with seagrass, shells, seaglass, dead coral, and anything else someone might bring back. The camp clearing is a lush, grassy, open clearing. There's four torches that take up each corner of camp. The centre is home to a deep pit that is constantly burning, tended to by Tonguekeepers, to use for cooking food, and herbal use, as well as warmth. These fires must be constantly lit to provide warmth to the camp at night due to the cold wind from the ocean. The freshkill pile is hidden beneath a bush in a pit; various preystuff is buried there. Things like fruit, however, stay above ground, on the opposite side of camp.
Along the shore, there's various landmarks in the sand. Further down the beach, volcanic stones called the Solstones are a perfect sunning area for older cats. Small lizards, bugs and crabs often hide in these holes and crevices, and can be chased out for a snack.Further into the treeline on the shore, there's a dipped clearing that is full of soft grass and sand where Tyros are usually taken to train off the sand due to its prime location and soft ground. This area is called the Conch Cove. It's surrounded by conch shells to ensure the clearing remains the same shape.Closer to the edge of the territory, there's a location called the Rainvein. This is a large area of mangroves that border the territory between the Waves and the Rains. They fight over this territory constantly, as it's a prime location to hide in during tropical storms. Currently, it belongs to the East Waves cats.At the edge of the Rainvein, a large swampy area called the Thousandtooth Roots. Mangroves thin out, and leave a large marshy area where crocodiles live in by the dozen. Under no circumstances should any cats attempt to enter this area.Along the edge of the east-most side of the shore, near the rocky walls of the mountains, there is a cavern and tunnel system that supposedly leads to the land on the other side of the crater. This is referred to as the Traveller's Passage, where domesticated cats can enter. This is how two species of Felis Catus exist within the crater.
As the mountains grow shorter, they expand into the water, and create a stone barrier, tapering off deeper into the water. This gulf is a safe haven for various fauna and flora. There's an over abundance of coral, anemone, various tropical fish, and little to no waves due to the reef and the mountains. In the middlemost of the coast, it's a clean transition from sandy beach to water. On either side of the gulf, however, it begins to transition into sandy and rocky tidepools called the Clampclaw Pools. the closer you get to the mountain barriers. These tidepools provide easy catches, and important lessons for young Tyros. Full of starfish, smaller fish, crabs, and other Sealife, Tyros can easily hop about and practice their hunting skills, while also having the joy of finding shells, seaglass, and other eye-catching objects. The entire gulf is protected by a reef underwater called the Shimmer Barrier. Older Archers are capable of swimming through the reef to collect food like fish, urchins, starfish, and other underwater prey. They share this calm part of the ocean with considerably larger fish, however, such as nursing sharks, and the ever invasive lionfish. Safety can be found upon jutting stones and coral that stick out the surface of the water.
Much further out, there's a narrow entrance between the gulf, and the yawning sea, where the mountains taper off. Venturing out so far is only done by senior Archers who have learned the terrain and understand the danger of the open ocean. Out here, if you get swept away by the waves, there will be no attempt to save you ... usually. Senior Archers can hike across the stony, slippery terrain that is the outer stone barrier, to reach the open sea past it. Usually, they try to avoid doing this, unless they're out there to lure away danger, assess an incoming storm, or find a lost companion. There's an area at the edge of the border called the Ashwind Place. This is where Undertakers bring cremated Arrowmates to spread their ashes into the water. To the right from this area, in the deeper water, there's the Twograve where Searchers are trained.Out here is where Arrow members commonly find Twoleg objects caught in the rocks, such as fishing nets, stray fabric, fish hooks and lures, and other forgotten human objects. These can be used by the cats to their advantage. They have learned how to use fishing nets to gather large amount of fish, and crab traps to capture their own crab and any other poor thing that may wander into it looking for food.Often, Twolegs boats pass by the narrow entrance to the Cardinal, but never enter it out of respect of the area. In the human world, it is a protected, inaccessible national park.
SOUTH RAINS

The cats of the South Rains are considered flighty, timid, and nervous by their surrounding Arrows, yet in reality, they're clever and cunning. They blend in with the shadows of the rainforest, and have learned to explore the entire forest without ever placing a single step on the forest floor. They've learned that danger can be around any corner, and keep this in mind as they brave the dense terrain.Their claws have grown long and sharp to better adjust to the climbing and leaping that comes from living in the treetops. They're small, yet fierce, with strong haunches and shoulders, while being extremely quick and agile on unsure and wobbly ground. Leaping from branch to branch is no trouble for the average South Rains cat as it may be for any other.Their muscles ripple under their short pelt, and their claws stay sharp because of how often they dig into wood. These cats are capable, strong, and unafraid of a challenge, no matter what it may be, despite rumors and whispers. Make no mistake - these cats are much more than what they've been chalked up to be.On top of this, these cats are excellent builders and architects. They have the most complex camp of any Arrow, and each have honed a very precise and stunning ability to weave together dens, floors, rooves, and even bridges.

THE TERRITORY
The South Rains camp is lovingly called the Tree of the Heavens by all who call it home, and even other cats from differing Arrows. It is an overgrown, ancient 60 foot tall Banyan tree that has grown with and around a Guanacaste tree. This means that their entire camp is on the top layer of the canopy, woven with vines, roots, leaves, and other natural materials to create an entirely flat pseudo-treehouse of a camp. This camp is 3 levels tall.In the middlemost canopy is where the main camp sits. Vines and planks of thick bark have been tied together to create bridges between branches. Vines are also used to cover the open spaces between the branches that make up the walls, and the leaves above them make for an incredibly suitable roof.In the centre of it all, the hollowed out tree trunk is home to the Overseer's den, where the Nock and Overseer sleep together. This den is quite tiny compared to the other dens. The floor is covered in leaf litter and beds are made from moss and feathers.
Continuing in the middlemost level of the camp, the other dens are created by hollowing out thick branches, and building onto them with woven sticks, vines, and other natural resources. On this level, four other main dens other than the Overseer's den are present:The Infirmary is built closest to the Overseer's den, built into a large hollowed out branch. It's the deepest of all of the dens, with rock shelving to hold herbs, and a large, spacious clearing for the Nurses to sleep, and the ill to rest. On the other side of the infirmary is the Elder's den, ensuring that help is not a long walk away for cats who can't climb well anymore. The second closest den to the Overseer's den is the Nursery, hidden deep inside of a den crafted around a hollowed branch. It's one of the larger non-medicinal dens, ensuring the safety and space for the queens inside, and their kits. Its entrance is shrouded in thick vine and ivy, hidden tucked away in the back of the clearing, and easy to miss if you're not looking for it.The Tryo's Den is built along the edge of the clearing, and is one of the most obvious dens on the main level. It's not built into any particular branch - instead, it's made entirely by weaving together natural resources to create a den that is backed against the thickest part of the canopy wall. The top level of the Tree is home to the Arrow's strongest and most capable. The Archer's Den is accessible by climbing up the stair-like trunk of the tree onto a sub-level attic like area, where each Archer sleeps, close to the sky and hidden away above the Overseer's den. Along with the Archer's den, this top level is home to lots of gaps between branches where young Archers and Tyros can build hammocks and nap in them with the sky above them.In the lowest level of the Tree, beneath the canopy floor, are bridges and steps leading up the dense tree trunks and branches. There are small gaps in the canopy where senior Archers will cross bridges to get to, and keep watch outside, ensuring that no large animal flies in or climbs up the trunk to get into the camp. Beneath this final level is the rest of the tree trunk, and then the forest floor.
Outside of the Tree, the forest is extremely dense and lush. It's covered entirely by countless shrubs, bushes, flowers, and other colourful plants. It's almost like it's curated, planted carefully to create a mind blowing environment - in fact, there's legend that the Gold Tiger had taken the time to painstakingly plant each plant to create a paradise of colour and life. Close to the tree, there are the Gold Orchards, where fruits are grown by Orchardists. The expanse of plantlife also means that the Rains are never short on plants and herbs needed for their camp, their infirmaries, and their dens.Towards the west, the forest gives way to an oasis called the Drownpools. These are ponds and lakes created by the waterfalls coming over the cliffs of the West Peaks, nestled beautifully in a clearing at the base of the cliff-border. There's no need to have to scent mark the border here, as the large cliff-face indicates the border itself. A river from the Drownpools called Tailend cuts through the entire South Rains territory, and dumps into the Rainvein and shoreline.Closer to the north end of the territory lies the Heart of the Cardinal. The South Rains are extremely fortunate to have this landmark. It is the large, deepened crater in the centre of the Cardinal where the comet that struck the earth rests. It's nearly impossible to get into the Heart without getting stuck forever due to the steep, rocky walls surrounding it. At the bottom of the Heart, the large comet is visible, and surrounding it are tunnels and caverns leaning in several different directions. These caverns shimmer at night when the moon's light hits them from salt deposits and crystals. The Heart itself, the comet, shines all hours of the day because of the materials its made of.
Deep in the dense rainforest, there's a downed two-leg aircraft - a large helicopter - that is tangled in the branches and canopy of the forest. It's called the Sleeping Dragonfly, and has begun to rust over the years it has been there. Vines have begun to grow from it, along with air-plants and other small plants. It's a safe-haven for dozens of small birds, and a large training centre for Tyros learning how to hunt in the trees.Along with this, there's a large section of trees that is home to a Howler Monkey Camp. Pressed flush against the south mountain line, these monkeys usually stray away from the Tree, yet will cause issues closer to the mountain border if any cats stray too close. Often, as a group, they will attempt to attack the Arrow and take over the Tree.
WEST PEAKS

The cats of the West Peaks are muscular, tough, weathered cats, bearing the strength of the mountains themselves in their paws. They're hardened by the environment they live in, constantly fighting off large eagles. They often come off as intimidating, quiet, and withdrawn, typically keeping to themselves rather than chatting up a storm. These cats spend their lives training heavily to be able to traverse the unforgiving environment of the peaks, constantly scaling rocky walls, fighting off unwelcome large guests, and hunting even larger prey. They know great balance, their abilities akin to their neighboring mountain cats. With rough paw pads, these cats don't struggle with raw, cracked sores like other cats might. With great teamwork, these cats have learned to take down even the formidable harpy eagle, a feat no other Arrow is capable of.These cats tend to be very strict and rigid in their training, patrols, battling ways, and other ritualistic behaviors. Tyros are usually put to the highest expectations, and if they don't meet them, they must be re-trained, for the mountain is home to no soft-paw. A Tyro would sooner die than be granted Archership without the proper training.

THE TERRITORY
Nestled comfortably in the heart of the mountains, the West Peaks camp is a large cavern. It's protected by a large blanket of roots and vines growing from the top lip of the entrance. Hidden beautifully behind large outcrops of rocks, this camp is impossible to find unless you call it home.Inside, the rocks and ground are overgrown with soft moss. The clearing is wide and open. To each sides, there are small cubbies where each den resides. Along the left side, closest to the entrance, is the Archers' den. Next to it, further down the wall is the Tyros' den.To the left, there is the Nursery, the Elders' den, and closest to the wall in the largest cubby is the Infirmary. At the centre, there's a large pool of water that connects to a stream going out towards the entrance, and a waterfall that begins at the back of the camp. At the back of the camp, there's an overlook where the waterfall begins. This is the Overseer Ledge. If you continue to follow the waterfall, you will push through a narrow tunnel and into the Overseer Den.This den is wide and open, surrounded by running water from underground systems, and has no ceiling. Instead, it's a direct window into the sky, so the Overseers can be closest to the Paradise of Lightning. The lightning dances in the sky all night, and the clouds block the clear sky. The clouds are often regarded as Celeste's mane.
The camp itself is a large, flat clearing. The ceiling grows long vines of ivy and roots. The camp only becomes rockier closer to the back of the camp where the ledges begin. Because the ground is made of rock, they cannot bury their freshkill, and often store it within the rocks closer to the back. This means its a little difficult to retrieve from the rocky face of the wall, but ensures that birds won't swoop in to steal it, and other animals cannot comfortably steal it, either. Each den has moss grown on the floor, entirely taking up the space, and nests are only made of feather on top of the moss ground. The ceilings of the dens have been lined in ivy and roots to prevent humidity from building up and dripping all over the cats living inside.Outside of the camp, there's large rock formations that block off most of the direct view outside, and create walls around a pathway that leads upwards and out. Directly above their camp is the largest crest of mountains in the West Peaks. Above them, clouds consistently gather in a dark formation, and permanently create bright, striking lightning. This constant storm system is known as the Paradise of Lightning, or Celeste's Garden, the afterlife for all Cardinal cats. The highest peaks are referred to as Celeste's Ears. The West Peaks consider themselves to be the closest to Celeste and the Lightning, and are extremely religious as a result. They have a stronger spiritual connection to the afterlife and religion than other cats, or so they claim. Whether this is true or not can be debated.
The rest of the territory is thin rainforest that grows unevenly across the jagged cliffs and rocks. Most plants grow on top of each other, roots twisted around tree trunks, as opposed to attempting to survive on the forest floor. In this dense forest, closest to the border against the Rains' territory, there's a large sinkhole taken over by hundreds upon hundreds of spiders. This sinkhole is called the Arañapit, and can be deadly if fallen into.Adjacent to the camp cavern, a large river of water cuts through the territory and down two cliff faces, creating two notable waterfalls. These are called the Drownstones collectively. Down the first cliff face, the waterfall creates a lake in a clearing, before travelling down another cliff face and into Rains territory.Past the two rivers at the top of the Drownstones is Hawk's View, an overlook of the entire Cardinal on a cliff-face adjacent to the camp entrance. It's difficult to get to, but has an incredible view. Young Tyros are challenged by making the hike, which half of is up a rock wall they must scale, and are rewarded by the view of the crater.
Further north, there is a large ravine that splits the territory. Beyond this ravine, there's a large cluster of trees called the Harpytree, where several families of harpy eagles have made their home. It's extremely dangerous to go there, considering the size and threat these eagles pose. Some Tyros make a challenge out of it, to see if they can steal a feather and bring it back to prove how strong they are. Archers frown on this practice due to the severe danger of it. However, other Tyros will find the gesture endlessly impressive.Along the rocky ground where grass cannot grow, closest to the Drownstones, the endless rains have created pits of water called The Tinajas that are home to rampant clouds of insects. At the beginning of rainy season, Floodflies will rise from these pits, and wreak havoc on the Peaks. To combat this, they collect and keep lizards and geckos as pets to catch these flies. The dropped tails of geckos prove to be fun snacks for young kits trying out solid food for the very first time.
At the very edge of the territory, bordering the north, there's a fallen over tree trunk that is incredibly large, implying that there used to be a massive forest of some kind on either side of the gorge. This bridge is called Hell's Bridge, and is used by the Arrow to cross into the north, for Tonguekeepers, and for gathering purposes. This bridge is tried and tested, and has yet to fail the Arrows.Beneath the large expanse of territory of the Peaks lie the Serpent's Belly cavern system. Due to flooding and various other dangers, such as the dark, and the twisting endless tunnels, cats are forbidden from entering this cavern system. There's legends that beneath your very paws, paintings and murals depicting the beginning of the Arrows are drawn across every wall, and can only be revealed by determined Tonguekeepers with their torches.
FORGOTTEN NORTH

The Forgotten North is an abandoned, levelled field that once was a beautiful lush forest. Now, the grass is a permanent yellow colour, and the area is covered in pits of lava and volcanic rock. Now, the territory is abandoned, overrun by snakes, black orchids and the unforgiving sun-torched earth.
ᅟ
The Abandoned North is important to the Arrows for several reasons despite the heavy history of the location. In the centre of the territory lies what the cats call Stela. This is a large, statue-like object that is actually the four Celestial Leaders caught in a final battle, and encased in volcanic stone. The Stela is surrounded by dozens of black orchids, planted by Overseers before you to ensure peace is kept at this location, no matter the war-torn history behind it.
To respect the sacrifice the three Celestial Leaders made against the Serpent, the Arrows gather every moon here for gatherings. The Arrows arrive when the sun is in the sky, and leave as the sun sets. Once the sun is caught within the Serpent's jaws, all Arrows disperse before the night sets in, and brings danger with it.
The Tonguekeepers job consists of travelling daily to the North. With them, they bring torches, and dip them into what are called Snakepits. These are pits of volatile lava and magma, bubbling and burning with no end in sight, encased by obsidian and volcanic stone. Tonguekeepers are well versed in the dangers of the Snakepits, and any ordinary cat could very well fall in and burn to death. It's said that if a cat falls in, the smoke from their bodies will awaken the Serpent and his hunger once more.
Along the edges of these Snakepits, leading up into the mountains, are the Obsidian Waters. These foul-stenched pits of water are constantly heated by the magma rumbling beneath the earth. While smelling severely of sulphur, these hotsprings can be used recreationally, or to boil herbs and food. Often, Nurses will travel to the North to create herbal teas, or Archers may travel with hard to open foods, such as crab and lobster. This is considered dangerous, and potentially unhealthy.
Towards the east edge of the territory is the Abandoned North. This used to be the north Arrow camp before the Serpent grew greedy, and the Arrow dispersed into the remaining groups around them. Now, the camp is a ghost town. The dens and architecture remains, covered in cobweb and infested with snakes and other reptiles. Near the camp border is the Serpent Wall, a clear stone border of where the camp begins, and where the danger starts - helpful for travelling cats.
In the uttermost north of the territory is the Jadestone. To get to this, you must crawl through a large, yawning Jaguar-like maw of a cavern entrance. The tunnel is demanding, pitch black, and takes time to crawl through. You can only use your paws and whiskers, letting the Celeste guide you until you reach the end of the tunnel, and the open-roofed cavern that houses a large, raw chunk of Jadestone, measuring about 20 feet tall. This Jadestone is where Overseers and Nocks go to to receive their lives, and be picked as Overseer. Nurses meet here to converse with the dead, and with one another. It is essentially a portal to the sky above, and the underworld below - allowing any cat who comes in contact with it to speak with the dead. This may come with a price - not every cat is permitted to interact with it as a result. While you could meet your ancestors and Celestial Leaders, you may very well get lost on the way, and end up in the Solfatara instead. This sacred location's entrance is overwhelmed by black orchids that seemingly grew themselves.
